The Cumberland Historical Society presents the Maine and the Missouri Compromise! Steve Moriarty, Cumberland's State Representative, will tell the story of how, in 1820, legislation called The Missouri Compromise provided for the admission of Maine to the U.S. as a free state as long as Missouri was admitted as a slave state.
