The Community Food Pantry services Cumberland, North Yarmouth, Pownal, and New Gloucester residents and is open the 1st, 2nd, and 4th Friday of every month from 3pm-6pm. It’s conveniently located on the ground floor level at the back of the Cumberland Town Hall.
The food pantry was originally located at the United Church of Christ (UCC) Congregational Church in Cumberland and was relocated to the Town Hall in the fall of 2012.
They are in need of volunteers to support this very needed program in many ways. If you are interested in learning more or would like to be included as a champion volunteer, please contact Pam Moriarty, 829-5095.
Our goal is to alleviate hunger in our community by soliciting, collecting, growing and packaging food for distribution, and by creating an atmosphere of volunteerism in the community. The pantry provides an expanded inventory of perishable and nonperishable products contributed by many of our churches, organizations, and many individual contributions. The United Congregational Church, the Tuttle Road Methodist Church, the North Yarmouth Congregational Church, Holy Eucharist Parish (4 Churches), White Pine Community Church, and the West Cumberland United Methodist Church are sponsoring the Community Food Pantry. A schedule is in place for each of the churches to staff the pantry on Friday afternoons.
