Active Living 55+

In 2014, the Town of Cumberland, Maine, became aware of the growing need for services for its older citizens. Today that initiative has developed into a thriving, vibrant organization, fueled almost exclusively by an energetic corps of volunteers dedicated to making a difference in the lives of their neighbors as they age. As a result of the efforts of dozens of volunteers and with the full support of town leaders and the Town Council, Active Living 55+ Cumberland offers:

• Rides to hundreds of older residents each year
• Assists older homeowners who need a hand with yard work, small projects and minor home repairs.
• Presents a monthly social program for seniors
• Works with the Fire Department and others to provide durable medical equipment, and a call-in program for those who live alone
