A Message from our Animal Control Officer, Bobby Silcott

As we gather over the holiday weekend to celebrate our nation’s birth, remember that fireworks and animals present a potentially dangerous, even deadly combination.

Please take precautions to protect your animals in the upcoming days. If you plan on setting off fireworks, be aware of animals living in your area. In addition to companion animals, livestock such as horses, cows, sheep and goats can become spooked by fireworks, which can result in them panicking, bolting, and in some cases breaking out of their enclosures to flee.

We hope that a little prevention and consideration can help avoid tragedy on what should be a joyous occasion. Let’s help our four-legged friends enjoy Independence Day too!
