What's it like to be a violinist in the Portland Symphony Orchestra? Prince Memorial Library's lecture series continues on Thursday, Jan. 26 at 6:30 p.m. with a presentation called "Inside the Music." Yasmin Vitalius, PSO violinist, will share her experiences as an orchestra violinist and will introduce her audience to the music of Beethoven and Rachmaninoff. Her presentation will include visual and auditory examples, and audience questions and interaction are encouraged.

Vitalius teaches violin at Bowdoin College and is co-director of the New England Suzuki Institute. She is a graduate of Stanford University and studied Turkish folk music in Ankara, Turkey, returning to the states to complete her master's degree in Violin Performance at the Eastman School of Music. Before moving to Maine, she played under the baton of Michael Tilson Thomas in the New World Symphony Orchestra in Miami, Florida.  She lives in Yarmouth with her husband and two children.

The presentation is free, and light refreshments will be served. For more information, please contact the library at 829-2215.
