Work will begin this summer to upgrade two culvert crossings and raise approximately 800 feet of Tuttle Road east of the Maine Central Railroad crossing near Crossing Brook Road. The road will be raised 3 to 4 feet and additional capacity will be added to two existing culvert crossings that have experienced frequent flooding during recent large rainfall events. The project will include the extension of a sidewalk from Town Hall to the railroad right of way and then from the railroad right of way to the extents of the road reconstruction. Construction will occur in ½ mile increments so please be on the lookout for construction zones and traffic delays beginning in early July.
Phase Two of the project will ultimately connect the schools on Main Street and Tuttle Road with Twin Brook Recreational Facility. This project has been in the Town’s Capital program for over 10 years. The project includes over $200,000 of State funds and over $200,000 from the Portland Water District for watermain upgrades.
