The Town of Cumberland is seeking a full-time Animal Control Officer. This is a regular full-time position of 40 hours per week plus emergency calls for service as needed. This position works independently and reports to the Cumberland Chief of Police.
Work requires familiarity with Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry rules, regulations and laws as well as Maine criminal statutes and Town ordinances relating to domestic and wild animals. Also requires the ability to successfully pass a thorough background investigation and the ability to complete detailed written reports. Experience in the handling of animals of all types and in all conditions desired. High school diploma and Class C Maine driver’s license required. Successful completion of an animal control training course and certification desired, or the ability to obtain both within six months of hire. This is a non-union position and the pay range is $22.00 to $24.10 per hour.
