ELECTION NOTICE
On Tuesday, November 7th there will be a State Referendum Election and a Municipal Election. Polls will be open from 7:00am - 8:00pm at Cumberland Town Hall.

The regular office hours of the Voter Registrar/Town Clerk’s Office, 290 Tuttle Road, are:
- Monday-Wednesday 8:00am - 5:00pm
- Thursday 8:00am - 6:00pm
The Registrar will have extended hours for registration and absentee voting on the following date:
- Monday, October 30, 2023- 5:00pm - 7:00pm (Town Hall)
The last day to absentee vote without a special circumstance will be Thursday, November 2, 2023.
Absentee Voting
Absentee Ballots for the November 7, 2023, State Referendum Election and Municipal Election are available at the Town Clerk’s Office at Cumberland Town Hall, during all regular business hours. Registered voters may vote in person or receive a ballot by mail.
3 Easy Ways to Obtain Your Absentee Ballot:
- Online: Request your Absentee Ballot online and we will mail it directly to you!
- Over the Phone: Call the Clerk's Office at 829-5559 to request your ballot be mailed to you! Telephone requests must be made by the voter only.
- In Person: Stop by Town Hall to pick up ballots for yourself/immediate family members (spouse, child, parent, sister/brother) or vote your own ballot in person.
After you receive and complete your ballot, you can drop them in the drop box located outside the front entrance of Town Hall or you can mail them back. Already submitted a request? Check the status of your ballot here.
Registering to Vote
Residents can stop by during Town Hall office hours to register to vote or can complete a voter registration card through the mail/drop box. Beginning October 18, 2023, a new registration must occur in person. The voter is required to show satisfactory proof of identity and residency to the Registrar.
Download the Maine Voter Registration Card and fill it out completely. Include copies of the following:
- Proof of Identity (Included, but not limited to, a drivers license, state ID, passport, social security number, or any other government issued identification. Please view the Proof of Identity for Voting Purposes for a complete list.)
- Proof of Residency if your Cumberland address is not listed on your form of ID. (Included, but not limited to, a vehicle registration, hunting/fishing license, utility bill, etc. Please view the Maine Voting Residence Fact Sheet for a complete list.)
Return documents to Cumberland Town Hall! Place them in the drop box at Town Hall or mail them to ATTN: Town Clerk's Office, Cumberland Town Hall, 290 Tuttle Road, Cumberland, ME 04021.
*During the Closed Period, a voter needs to register in person at Town Hall. The Closed Period for this elections will begin at the close of business on October 18, 2023.*
