Marty Gagnon is a former journalist for newspapers in Maine and New Hampshire, and has worked on several media literacy initiatives, including The Media Literacy at Your Library, a project of the American Library Association (ALA) in collaboration with many other partners. This presentation offers tips to look critically and analyze digital, television, and thoughtful presentation will examine the history of misinformation and the psychology of irrationality brought about by biases and social forces. Marty will assess the role of technology in the creation and spread of “fake news” and suggest helpful resources to verify images and fact check news stories. Free, and open to the public.
