Author Talk: Kelly Payson-Roopchand

Event Date:
Thursday, June 14, 2018 - 6:30pm

Prince Memorial Library will host Kelly Payson-Roopchand, author of Birth, Death, and a Tractor: Connecting an Old Farm to a New Family, on Thursday, June 14 at 6:30 p.m.

Birth, Death, and a Tractor is the story of a small family farm in Somerville, Maine, from its settling in the early 1800s to its perilous transfer to a new farm family in 2008. It's an unforgettable, true story of history and hope.

Payson-Roopchand farms and writes at the end of the road in Somerville, Maine. She and her family are reviving a six-generation family farm, where they keep dairy goats, run a farm camp for children, and share their love of the natural world around them. At this time of year, she can be found selling her goat cheese at various local farmer's markets.

The Author Talk is part of a monthly series featuring local authors who discuss their latest book, their inspiration and the writing process. Light refreshments will be served. Prince Memorial Library is located at 266 Main Street in Cumberland. For more information, contact the library at 829-2215.
