Beekeeper John Gobel will offer a lively presentation on honey bees and beekeeping on Thursday, March 15 at 6 p.m. at Prince Memorial Library. The presentation will provide a fascinating glimpse into the lives of honey bees and explore how humans have partnered with them over the centuries to the benefit of both. It will also explain how to start keeping bees as a hobbyist.
 
Gobel has spent several years studying bees and beekeeping, attending numerous intermediate and advanced classes, and doing the necessary research to successfully operate his five-colony backyard operation. Gobel is an adjunct professor of finance and management in the University of New Hampshire system, and president of Wealth Management Services. His interests run wide and deep. In addition to active membership in local beekeeping organizations, he is the president of the Maine Powerchute Association and is an FAA-certified flight instructor and an FAA-Designated Pilot Examiner. He is a Vietnam veteran with more than 500 flight combat missions to his credit.
