Prince Memorial Library will host award-winning journalist and science writer Kathryn Miles, Thursday, January 11 at 6:30 p.m. She will discuss her latest book, Quakeland: Preparing for America’s Next Devastating Earthquake.

Quakeland is a journey around the United States in search of the truth about the threat of earthquakes. The road trip includes expert testimony and unearths spine-tingling discoveries, which ultimately lead to advice for preparations that will help guide us through disasters.

Miles’ essays and articles have appeared in publications, including Best American Essays, The Boston Globe, Down East, Ecotone, History, The New York Times, Outside, Pacific Standard, Popular Mechanics, and Time. She currently serves as writer-in-residence at Green Mountain College and as a scholar-in-residence for the Maine Humanities Council. Quakeland is her fourth book. She lives in Portland, Maine.
