Join the Cumberland Historical Society on Wednesday, July 28th at 6:30pm to listen to Cumberland resident, Bill Kenny, author of "A History of Maine Railroads". The presentation will take place at Cumberland Town Hall.
Bill will take the crowd on a journey from Maine’s first railroad tracks made of wood to today’s high-speed Downeaster Amtrak train. Learn about how the railroads impacted Maine's economy, the intriguing characters who established them, and the communities they served. Bill will also discuss how Maine was one of the first states to build trolleys and why trolleys and railroads flourished in our state's history. Copies of the book will be available for sale at the presentation.
