The Central Fire Station construction project will include renovation of the four existing apparatus bays and demolition of the rest of the station and the adjacent house currently used by the Fire Department for lodging. The Fire Station will be expanded to include two new apparatus bays and a three-story building addition designed to accommodate the current and future needs of Cumberland’s Fire Department. The lower level of the proposed addition will include a training room which will also serve as a dedicated emergency operations area and community space. The second level of the addition will house the administrative services of the Department and the upper level will serve the residential needs of on call staff.
Proposed site improvements include a new 22-space parking lot, a closed storm drain system, porous concrete panels and underdrain to support stormwater management, landscaped retaining walls and site lighting.
