Public Works Reminders

The Public Works Department has some reminders for residents regarding street sweeping, the brush dump, bulky item pickup week, and seasonal changes to park hours.

Street Sweeping

The Public Works crew will begin street sweeping this week. They will start in Cumberland Center, moving to Cumberland Foreside next week, and West Cumberland the week after. After the initial sweeping has been completed, they will be doing a quick second pass in Cumberland Center.


The Brush Dump is Open for the Season!

Brush Dump Hours
●Tuesdays, 11:00 am-3:00pm
●Saturdays, 9:00 am - 12:30pm

Extended Hours in May and November:
●Monday - Friday 7:30am to 3:00pm
●Saturday 9:00am to 3:30 pm

Light Blue passes are good until the end of 2017 and can be purchased at the Town Hall.

Residents Passes
Season Pass: $25.00 Day Pass: $10.00 Single Use Pass: $5.00

Commercial Operators Passes
Season Pass: $250.00 Day Pass: $25.00

We accept the following: Brush, Leaves, and Grass Clippings. Corrugated cardboard accepted in containers located at the Public Works Garage or the West Cumberland Fire Station at any time.

Waste Oil that is not mixed with any additives may be left in the Waste Oil Shed (near the Brush Dump) - but you must log it in and sign. The Brush Dump will close November 25th or at the first measurable snow fall, whichever comes first.

Bulky Item Pickup Week Spring 2017

A Bulky Item Pickup Week was designed to assist the residents of Cumberland in the disposal of large, oversized items that cannot fit into the Town’s PAYT bags in the weekly trash or be recycled in regular curbside recycling. If an item, or group of items, fits in a Town of Cumberland PAYT bag, the material is NOT BULKY WASTE and WILL NOT BE PICKED UP. Bulky items will be picked up on your regular trash collection day.  Only residential waste is accepted - no commercial trash is permitted.Please consider donating any items that are in new or gently used condition: Donation Possibilities

Seasonal Changes to Park Hours

A reminder to residents that park summer hours are now in effect! Twin Brook Recreational Facility will be open from 6am to 9pm. Remember, dogs may be off-leash on the Tuttle Road side of the park in the morning and on the Greely Road side of the park in the afternoon. Dogs must always be under voice command, during those times. Dogs are not allowed at Val Halla effective April 1st-December 1st. For more information regarding dogs at town parks, please click here.
